The short answer
ClearCoat Painting serves Hobe Sound in Martin County, about 10 miles north of Jupiter. We paint interiors and exteriors, refinish cabinets, stain decks and fences, pressure wash and repair drywall, using prep and coatings chosen for salt air, UV and humidity.
Hobe Sound is just across the county line in Martin County, about 10 miles north of ClearCoat Painting's base in Jupiter. That short drive makes it one of the easiest places for us to work outside Palm Beach County, and Hobe Sound homes keep us busy for a clear reason: between salt-laden breezes off the water, relentless summer sun and months of heavy humidity, paint simply works harder here. We handle exterior and interior repaints, wood and metal trim, cabinets, decks, fences and the washing and repair that make any coating last. Here is what homeowners in this unincorporated community should know before planning a paint project.
Salt Air Changes the Prep
Homes within reach of ocean and Intracoastal breezes collect a fine film of salt on every exterior surface. You cannot always see it, but paint applied over it bonds poorly, and the salt keeps drawing moisture toward the surface long after the job is done. That is why every Hobe Sound exterior we paint begins with a fresh-water wash, not just a quick rinse, followed by a mildew treatment on shaded areas.
Salt also speeds up corrosion. Iron railings, light fixtures, hinges and fasteners rust faster near the coast, and that rust bleeds through paint as orange streaks. We remove loose rust down to sound metal, prime with a rust-inhibiting product, and finish with an enamel built for exterior exposure. Galvanized and aluminum surfaces get a primer made specifically for those metals, since standard primers can peel off them.
Wood, Stucco and Everything In Between
Hobe Sound has a mix of construction, from concrete-block homes with stucco to houses with wood siding, wood trim and covered porches. Each material asks for something different.
Stucco and block need a masonry primer on any bare or chalking areas and a breathable, mildew-resistant topcoat. If the walls show a network of fine cracks, an elastomeric coating may be the better answer because it flexes rather than splitting. Wood needs scraping and sanding to a firm edge, replacement of any soft or rotted sections, and primer on bare spots before two coats of exterior paint. Doors and shutters that face the afternoon sun often need a more frequent refresh than the walls around them.
- Fresh-water washing to remove salt and dirt film
- Mildew treatment on eaves, soffits and north-facing walls
- Rust removal and inhibiting primer on metal
- Rot repair and spot priming on wood trim and fascia
- Crack bridging with flexible patch or elastomeric coating
- Two finish coats as our standard on exterior walls
Decks, Fences and Outdoor Living Areas
Outdoor wood in coastal Martin County goes gray quickly under strong UV and stays damp for long stretches in summer. Deck and fence staining protects the wood while letting the grain show. We wash and brighten the boards, let them dry thoroughly, and then apply a penetrating or semi-transparent stain depending on the wood's condition and the look you want. Pool decks, patios and paver walkways can be pressure washed at the same visit to remove algae and the slippery film that builds up in shady corners.
Interiors That Feel New Again
Inside, the most frequent Hobe Sound requests we see are whole-house repaints before a sale or after a purchase, kitchen cabinet refinishing, and removal of dated popcorn ceilings. Interior work is not weather-dependent, so it can be scheduled any time of year. We protect floors and furnishings, repair drywall dents and cracks, prime water-stained areas with a stain blocker, and leave crisp lines along trim and baseboards.
Scheduling With the Seasons
The drier stretch from November into April gives the most predictable painting weather for exteriors. During the wet season, roughly May through October, we start early and plan coating so it sets up before the typical afternoon thunderstorms. Since hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, many Hobe Sound owners like to have cracks sealed and peeling areas repaired ahead of the peak months.
We also work regularly in nearby Jupiter Island, Jupiter Inlet Colony, Juno Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Lake Park, which makes it simple to coordinate projects across more than one property.
